Tata Motors is scheduled to become a segment of the electric car to launch electric versions of Indica and Ace in Europe this year, according to a report on Hindu Business Line. Mr Ravi Kant, Vice-President, told the newspaper the company will start an electric car retail in the United Kingdom and the Scandinavian countries and that the Indica Vista is probably the UK will be launched here in September and October.
An electronic version of the car and the Ace pick-ups are already in the last phase of development. In fact, the company appears to Vista RSV Geneva Motor Show in 2009, and Ace RSV in Zaragoza in 2008.
UK is particularly targeted because the British government to promote electric cars in the alternative program of support infrastructure and fuels, therefore, provides the perfect platform for vehicles, such as Vista and Ace. Meanwhile, Tata Motors European Technical Centre has received a loan of 10 million pounds to develop Indica Vista EV in the UK. The company has invested a total of GBP 25 million (180 crore R) project.
The two projects of electric vehicles have benefited from contributions from Norway Grenland based environment, where Tata Motors holds a 72 per cent. Scandinavian countries like Norway, Denmark and Sweden are more EV-friendly because the infrastructure is already in place. The company did not intend to introduce the Nano Electric, which was introduced this year in Geneva.
