Microsoft Powers intelligence for IPL

Intelligent computing has finally made its way to India and that, too, with a bang. A good example to cite will be a set of business intelligence tools custom made for the IPL matches that were wrapped up last month. While the whole world remained glued to their television screen and watched the IPL matches, a set of intelligence tolls were used to understand the psyche of each Bangalore Royal Challengers players under different playing conditions, playing grounds and weather conditions.

A first of its kind initiative, the business intelligence tool works on Microsoft Silver light at the backend, while the real time image processing and viewing happens out of the cloud. The tool basically captures a set of images of a particular player and minutely analyses them, to check for changes in expression and behavior. The process is a complex one and requires real time data processing along with built in 'intelligence' to trace behavior patterns and predict future behavior based on 'experience'. The toll is powered by a company called Sporting Mindz and takes forward the company's philosophy of 'business in the sports domain by effectively managing business processes.'
